As I have said many times, the philosophical cop blog exists to allow all of us to discuss and learn together. That is why we enjoy so much back-and-forth debate and, yes, sometimes some conflict.
It only makes sense, then, that as social media becomes more and more accessible and popular, that our conversation move to that arena as well. So……..

aaaarrrggghhh!!!! please *please* don’t become a twitter head, PC! i follow this blog for the measured, reasoned, thoughtful, well-written things you have to say – even if i disagree with a lot of it, i respect what you have to say, and you say it well – and twittering just kinda….messes all that up. 140 characters max is fine for dirty limericks – but what you have to say deserves better. stream-of-consciousness thought is *highly* overrated: for proof, just read a teenager’s texts sometime.
ok, so maybe i AM turning into an old fart. but still….
I had not heard that criticism of the Twit…thank you for the compliments, and I will have to think on this. I was just trying to “expand…”

I’m still trying to get the hang of twitter myself. I follow several police officers who twitter about their shift. It’s interesting and helps me learn more about what goes on during a shift, so it can be a useful tool.
Twitter is not a philosophical venue. Your comments barely qualify as philosophy in long form (it’s mostly just news and opinion); if you go the route of tweeting you’ll have given away even this.

And he needs your help to save himself and pronounce the whole truth to the world. His whole family has been killed, his job was removed and the gangsters along with Indian Police openly chase him everywhere he goes!
As technology advances so do criminals. Police need to make an effort and stay on cutting edge technology as well as departments. Departments can make immediate posts about information regarding a dangerous suspect to possibly severe weather warnings. Departments can also make job postings available to people who follow them on twitter or other social networking first. We are now in the electronic ages so everyone must move forward or be left behind.
I haven’t been very good at keeping up with twitter lately because of one thing or another but I get on there as often as I can. I enjoy hearing what officers have to put up with and sometimes shake my head as to what people will do.
I hope all is well in the philosophical cop world. We enjoy hearing your thoughts.
I agree with Ryan, twitter can be useful. If anything it could just notify of new posts mad to the blog.
