One of the things I have always considered odd (there are so many) is the private sector’s lack of involvement in police work. Hold your horses, I am not suggesting we have a local Blackwater in Kansas City. I do think, though, that with police agencies so underfunded and understaffed, the private sector should step up. After all, it is those folks who we protect every day. Seems like common sense.
So I say “great job and good thinking” to Mercury Insurance. This article explains that the insurance giant has donated $1 Million to an LAPD program to recruit cops. Well done. If more major cities and corporations could cooperate in this way, it would mean more backup, better equipment, and higher pay for our officers. What could be wrong with that?
