So OJ got about 15 years, with a likely “actual” of closer to nine. I’m curious what you think. Here is what went through my mind:
I watched the sentencing on my television at work, and was reminded of the scene when OJ was found not guilty in the Nicole Brown / Ron Goldman murder trial. I saw that verdict at work, as well. I remember that every Black colleague in the room was excited, and every one else stood with jaws suspended in mid air.
Much was the scene today. My White co-workers were all pumping fists and saying, “rot in hell…” while their Black peers were busy doing the math on how soon he can get out. “Not fair to punish him now for what happened back then…” was the general retort to the judge’s (somewhat long-winded) speech.
What do you think? Just right, or just revenge?
